2 New Year’s Eve Beauty Looks.

This post is sponsored by Target, one of my very favorite retailers. Thank you for supporting the brands that partner with Pretty & Fun – authenticity is a top priority and all opinions are 100% honest and my own.

We’re officially entering the final weeks of 2015, which means it’s time to start planning for New Year’s Eve. Whether you’re all about hitting up the club for the hottest party of the night or would rather ring in the New Year from the comfort of your own home, the final evening of the year definitely calls for a special beauty look.

The ultimate choice: Play it safe with your beauty look or get a little wild and break the rules? To step up my glam for the evening, I paid a visit to Target to chat with my store’s Beauty Concierge (whom I like to think of as my own secret beauty weapon!). She gave me the scoop on some of her favorite products for hair and makeup, and whether you choose to play by the rules or break ’em, we’ve got you covered with two beauty looks for New Year’s Eve.

Play by the Rules: To play by the rules, think Hollywood glam. Smooth waves paired with a classic red lip. It never goes out of style! To recreate this look for your own New Year’s Eve festivities, start with towel-dried hair and prep for a smooth and damage-free blowout with Tresemmé’s Keratin Smooth Flat Iron Smoothing Spray followed by working a small amount of Herbal Essences Bombshell Babe Blowout Smooth Cream through your hair from roots to tip. Finish your hair by blow-drying with a flat paddle brush, and adding a curling wand to create loose waves.

For your makeup, think dewy and simple skin—you want that #IWokeUpLikeThis vibe! Swap out a heavy foundation for something lighter like Maybelline Pure BB Cream, which provides buildable coverage to even out skin tone and help hide any blemishes without looking like you’re wearing a full face of makeup. Use your fingers to blend a dab of Pixi Sheer Cheek Gel in Natural into the apples of your cheeks for a subtle flush, and add L’Oréal Paris Infallible 24HR Eye Shadow in Amber Rush to your eyelids to add a hint of shimmer. Finish with a swipe of mascara and L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche La Lacque Lip Pen in Lacque and Roll and you’re good to go!

Break the Rules: The rules were meant to be broken, right? For a fun and funky New Year’s Eve beauty look, get a little wild with your hair and makeup with the unexpected. I’m a big believer that a messy bun is always a good idea, and New Year’s Eve is no exception. For the best messy bun, start with second-day hair that has been sprayed with Not Your Mother’s Clean Freak Refreshing Dry Shampoo for just the right amount of texture and volume, and work it into your bun technique of choice. Finish with a glitter headband for a touch of glam, because it’s New Year’s Eve after all!

For a rule-breaker beauty look, start with the same simple foundation and blush, but add in a few unexpected touches. Swap out the classic red lip for something bolder and brighter—think hot pink! Try Revlon’s new Ultra HD Matte Lip Color in HD Obsession for vibrant, matte color that’s ultra pigmented. For eyes, swap out your traditional black eyeliner for something with a touch of sparkle, like Pixi’s Endless Silky Eye Pen in Glimmery Black, which has glitter right in the pencil, and smudge it up a bit for an effortless smoky look. You can even take the rule-breaking right down to your fingers with a bold, glittered manicure using Essie’s Summit of Style that’s sure to catch someone’s eye with big gold glitter flakes.
