My Summer Sunshine Essentials.

Summer is officially in full swing! I’ve had summer on my mind with my move back to the east coast quickly approaching – this girl cannot wait to have seasons again and arrive in New York just in the peak of summer to soak up some sunshine and warm weather. As I’m busy packing, shopping for summer clothes and making plans to catch up with friends once I’m settled into the city, I’ve had my summer sunshine essentials on my mind to make the most of the summer months. A few of my favorites for sunny days:
1. SPF for Face: While I’ve always needed heavy SPF protection during sunny months, I haven’t always been the most responsible with my skin and spent many of my teenage years frequenting tanning beds (eeeek!) or slathering myself with tanning oil and baking poolside in hopes of getting a bit bronzed. Over the years I’ve gotten significantly more responsible about avoiding too much sun exposure, but still was slacking in the daily SPF department until I recently switched to Olay’s Regenerist Whip with SPF 25. After already being obsessed with Olay’s Whips moisturizers because of the unique, light texture, a good thing is officially even better with the addition of SPF that’s not greasy or heavy. It works really well under makeup and you can grab it for yourself at Walmart or other mass retailers, so you basically have no more excuses skip out on daily SPF!
2. Sunshine Ready Accessories: I like to keep a kit of sunny day favorites readily available so I can easily hop over to the park or accept a friend’s invite for a beach day. One of my ultimate staples? A bold and bright towel that works perfectly for picnics in the park or time poolside. An extra pair of sunglasses (a cheap pair preferably – I always tend to lose them!) and a hat to help shade your face from the sun are other helpful summertime partners in crime, just throw all your accessories in a tote and you’re ready to go!
3. Reading Materials: There are few things I love more than catching up on my neglected stack of magazines or tearing into a new book while out in the sun. Summer is the perfect time to unplug, get outside and get lost in a good book, whether it’s a light beach read or an inspiring career related book to get your creative juices flowing for your next big idea.
4. A Summer Playlist: A good playlist can really set the mood and I love curating seasonal playlists on Spotify to have my favorite songs readily available for taking a nap in the sunshine or having friends over to hang out. Another fun way to discover new music? Use Shazam to capture song titles while you’re out and about on your summer adventures, curating your own summer soundtrack along the way to remind you of the fun.
What are some of your summer sunshine essentials?
