Holiday Beauty Equations // Classic & Smokey.

Anyone else feel like their calendar goes from calm to chaos in the blink of an eye once December hits? From holiday parties to festive date nights, there seems to be always something happening throughout the month and through the new year, and while my everyday look tends to be pretty casual, I love a good excuse to get dressed up and December always has plenty!

To prep for December’s festivities and step up my beauty routine, I paid a visit to my local Target to chat with my beloved Target Beauty Concierge and check out some of the latest and greatest Maybelline products to hit the shelves. My mission? Get holiday glam with the help of a few new beauty products and create 2 holiday beauty equations to cover me for all of the holiday happenings.

We started things off with a classic look that can work really well for both day or night, and which is heavy on the holiday cheer thanks to a matte red lip. My Target Beauty Concierge, Monica, recommended we keep things light and dewy on my skin and we grabbed Maybelline’s Dream Pure BB Cream to add just enough coverage to even out my skintone and fight redness (the bonus is that this formula features salicylic acid to fights breakouts!). Cover any blemishes or under-eye circles with Maybelline FIT Me Concealer and finish by blending Maybelline Master Glaze blush in “Just Pinched Pink” on the apples of your cheeks with your fingertips.

Use Maybelline Eye Studio Master Kajal Eyeliner in “Charcoal Skies” to line the outer corners of your upper and lower eyelids for a perfectly undone, soft and smudged look. Finish with a swipe of Maybelline Great Lash Mascara on your lashes (a classic!) and Maybelline Color Sensational Matte Lipstick in “Rich Ruby” on your lips and you’re good to go!

For a more dramatic evening look, we grabbed Maybelline’s new “Up In Smoke” all-in-one makeup palette, which is basically the most brilliant thing I’ve ever seen. It’s literally an entire beauty look, step-by-step, all within one palette! Following the palette’s handy instruction sheet, Monica gave me the rundown on how to create the perfect smoky eye by combining the four eyeshadow shades and then finishing by lining the eye with black eyeliner and using Maybelline’s Great Lash Mascara on the top and bottom lashes.

To go along with how easy the makeup palette makes things, Monica recommended Maybelline’s FIT Me Shine-Free Foundation, which provides a powder-like finish and natural-looking full coverage that can easily be blended into the skin with your fingertips. Once base foundation has been applied, use the “Up In Smoke” palette’s highlighter for contouring by applying it in a C-shape around the outer corners of your eye, to your cheek bones, the bridge of your nose and your chin. Finish the look by applying the palette’s blush and lip color, which add just enough color but leave the look’s focus on the bold, smoky eye.
