goodbye chicago.
Dear Chicago,
We first met almost four years ago. I didn’t know all that much about you but I was young, open-minded and eager for change. You were full of opportunity, so I took a chance and wanted to see all that I could learn from you.. about myself, my career and my independence. And with every day that passed, I grew up, and grew into someone that today, I’m really proud to be. I made you my home through exploration – you were all mine and I was allowed to be pretty selfish about that. You inspired me to make the most of every opportunity, while also helping me realize my boundaries and the fact that “busy” doesn’t generally equal “happy”. You connected me to so many incredible people and were the perfect playground for some of the best moments and favorite memories of my life.
And for all of that, I’m forever grateful. Since the day I packed up my car and made the 800 mile drive from New Jersey, I’ve described you as “the best decision I’ve ever made”, and I probably always will. While I’m off on a new adventure, I’ll always remember the impact you’ve had on me as a person and the growing up that comes with your mid twenties. You changed me, for the better, and will forever feel like home.
Goodbye, my Windy City.
