We often get so caught up in the meaning of beauty – we think “beautiful” is a flawless model in a glossy magazine where everything is just right. At the end of the day, this definition of beauty kind of stinks. It’s unattainable and can be really discouraging; it’s a label we strive for and can easily induce jealousy or just generally feeling down on ourselves.

But what we sometimes forget is that beauty is actually everywhere. It’s not just an adjective that’s reserved for the world of fashion or celebrities, it can be found in so many forms and in so many places in our everyday lives. It’s in fresh flowers and sunrises. Perfect lattes and long dog walks along the lakefront. All of those little moments that are so easy to miss are packed full of beauty! You just have to take the time to notice and appreciate them.

Spring is a huge reminder of how much beauty is around, especially in Chicago where the winters (aka October to March) are brutally cold and grey. But once spring officially rolls around, the city comes alive once again – there’s just a little extra spring in everyone’s step once we’re finally given a break from the snow and sub-zero.
