How Do You Stay Active?
I’m not the kind of person who would ever say they love working out. You’ll never catch me hitting the gym and I always tend to dread workout classes (thank goodness for those cancelation fees!). Those amazing post-workout endorphins that everyone seems to rave about never quite kick in for me, so being active and staying healthy is really something I need to think about and prioritize, otherwise it just won’t happen. With busy days and packed calendars, its all too easy to say there’s just not enough hours in the day to squeeze in a workout or to choose convenience over food that’s actually good for you but I swear, taking a little time to stay active really goes a long way!
Lately I’ve been focused on finding balance in my health and fitness routine. I’ve realized the all or nothing approach isn’t really healthy or sustainable so I’ve ditched the calorie counting and extreme workouts in favor of finding little ways to stay active and make healthier choices in my every day. My two biggest secrets? Walking as much as possible and staying hydrated at all times.
Choosing to throw on your sneakers instead of grabbing an Uber can not only save you a ton of money (you don’t even want to know what I was spending on cabs until recently…) but also is such an easy way to get moving and stay active. With San Francisco’s cool climate and crazy hills, running errands can easily count as a workout and there’s nothing more satisfying than checking your steps and total distance walked at the end of the day!
I’ve also been making a serious effort to stay hydrated at all times. I’m always thirsty and while it’s usually pretty easy for me to remember to drink water throughout the day when I’m at my desk working, I’m terrible about it while I’m on the go. I’ve found that any time I feel a little off, it’s usually because I’m dehydrated and lately I’ve been making sure I always have a bottle of hint water stashed in my bag so there’s no excuse for not staying hydrated. I like to consider hint water my partner in crime for making staying hydrated not only easy, but enjoyable as well with just enough flavor to be much more exciting than plain water but without any of the sugars or calories of juice or soda.
A little water and some extra walking can really go a long way! How do you stay active in your everyday? Have you tried hint water yet? You can use code PANDF20 for 15% off at drinkhint.com to try some for yourself (the green apple flavor is my fave!)
