recently read // the opposite of loneliness.
Warning: this book will make you feel all of the feels, and not because of the storyline or the words on the pages. I picked up Marina Keegan’s ‘The Opposite of Loneliness’ without realizing this and my stomach sunk as I read through the introduction and discovered that Marina was an incredible writer who died far too young. The book is a collection of essays and short stories she wrote during her college career at Yale; she died tragically shortly after graduation and while her writings in ‘The Opposite of Loneliness’ are excellent, I wish I could have read the best selling novel she surely would have written if her life hadn’t been cut so short.
‘The Opposite of Loneliness’ offers a peek into an advanced college mind – one more focused on pushing boundaries and charging toward her goals than fitting in and settling. The short story and essays format makes it an easy leisure read and I couldn’t think of a better way to honor Marina and her talent than to highly highly recommend it to you all.
