Dating has plenty of perks – you’re able to wear sweatpants without being worried about judgement, you’re able to get your cuddle on whenever you want and you never have to stress about finding a +1. But with that level of comfort comes the issue of routine. It’s all too easy to fall into that rut and lean on the tried and true when it comes time to planning a date night (booooring!).

With Valentine’s Day on the horizon, many couples are stressing planning the perfect evening to shake things up a bit. In case you’re in that boat, or just looking for something new to do on date night, here are ten new ideas:

  • Go for a Bike Ride: See if riding a bike is actually something that’s impossible to forget and rent bikes, pack a picnic and explore your city in a new way
  • Play Food Critics: Order in a sampler of your favorite type of food from a few different restaurants and determine which is the best
  • Night at the Planetarium: Test your constellation knowledge or just enjoy the stars (plus what’s more romantic than a little star gazing?!)
  • Go on a Treasure Hunt: Spend the day perusing thrift stores, consignment shops and garage sales for some one-of-a-kind gems
  • Sweat It Out: Take a cycling, yoga, kickboxing, what-have-you
    class at your favorite gym and then make each other giant smoothies

  • Visit a Museum: Get inspired at your nearest museum or art gallery and guess each others’ favorite piece
  • Host a Cocktail Party: Invite some of your friends over and experiment with new cocktail recipes or stick to tried-and-true classics
  • Channel your Inner Gamer: Spend the evevning eating junk food and playing your favorite video games
  • Volunteer Together: Whether it’s at a soup kitchen, animal shelter or old folks home, it’s always more fun to volunteer with someone
  • Sing Your Heart Out: Go to a karaoke bar and sing (solo or duet) – you can even make it a bit of a competition
