Finding My Summer Groove.
Coming from a summerless climate has been a bit of a reality shock as I’ve settled into life in New York – the weekend I moved was the hottest of the summer, and the 100+ degree temperatures very quickly made me realize that my wardrobe wasn’t really summer ready (nor was I prepared with an AC unit, which is a whole different story). It’s been quite strange to be able to leave the house without a jacket and sweat on my daily commute instead of catch a chill from the morning fog, and I’ve been scrambling to figure out what to wear without spending a ton of money on clothes.
I’ve been turning to affordable basics that can work for the workday, weekend and even date nights with plenty of little black dresses in the mix. I love how comfortable this midi dress option is from H&M, the fabric has just the right amount of stretch and it doesn’t wrinkle, making it perfect for a day in the office or packing for a trip. Black dresses are the ultimate blank slate in my book; easy to dress up or down with different jewelry and shoe options, and always tend to look at little more pulled together since they’re so classic. And bonus points for hiding sweat because let’s be real… this is summer in New York we’re talking about.
