How was your holiday weekend? Having the 4th fall on a Tuesday and getting an extra day off was kind of the best thing ever – this was my first 4th of July in San Francisco and while I was initially bummed to not be traveling (I swear every one of my friends was out of town this weekend!), it ended up being a really relaxing weekend which was just what I needed. I always joke that I’m not very good at relaxing but I definitely indulged in my fair share of nothing this weekend which was incredibly refreshing.

Given that San Francisco doesn’t have typical summer weather, I’ve seriously let my summer wardrobe slide over the past few years and have been making an effort recently to ditch my usual sweater and jeans uniform and add some dresses back into the mix, both for the rare warm weather days here and for travels. Tassels are everywhere right now and I love how the tie shoulder detail on this silk shift dress from Madewell adds a little interest / trendiness to an otherwise really simple staple piece. And this color? Obsessed. Blue is definitely the color I wear the most beyond neutrals and this shade is just bright enough to feel summery without being too loud.

How was your holiday weekend? Have you grabbed any new summer dresses recently?
