The Denim Skirt Is Back.
As someone who had a closet full of Abercrombie & Fitch and Hollister in high school, I went through a serious denim skirt phase and while you’ll never see me wearing one that’s shorter than fingertip length, I’m all about the comeback that the denim skirt has made over the past few years. It’s kind of a no brainer though – our jeans tend to be the hardest working piece in our wardrobe. From casual days in the office to weekend errands, we all find ourselves reaching for a pair of denim when we don’t feel like putting much thought into what we’re wearing, so why not do the same with a skirt?
I love how the button detailing down the front of this denim skirt from Madewell has a slightly 70’s vibe – it’s the kind of detail that does all of the work for you, making it a staple for pairing with simple pieces, like a tank or tee. You’ve seen a lot of bell sleeves around here lately and I couldn’t resist this top from Loft with its bell sleeves and tie-back detail. It’s the elevated version your classic crisp white tee that you’ll want to wear with everything in your closet (and it’s also super comfortable!). Denim and a white tee is just one of those combinations that you’ll always feel good in – it’s a classic combination that never gets old and always seems to work and translates just as well from your standard pair of jeans to a denim skirt!
Has anyone else added a denim skirt back into their wardrobe? Do you remember the days of wearing tiny denim mini skirts over leggings? 🙈
