It’s funny how trends always seem to come back around and into style. I was all about the one shoulder top trend when I was in college and then purged my closet of the silhouette when it went out of fashion, only to find myself buying new one shouldered pieces six years later.
While I’m still curious to see what else comes back around (tube tops, anyone?!), I’m thoroughly appreciating a good one shouldered look. One shoulder tops tend to feel a little more dressier than their tank top cousin and they also seem to have merged nicely with the statement sleeve trend that is also everywhere you look right now.
ONE SHOULDER TOPS TO SHOP FOR SPRING & SUMMER
Being the sucker for stripes that I am, I couldn’t resist this black and white striped one shoulder top from Club Monaco. The bow detail is just too good and the neutral color palette means it can easily be dressed up or down. Paired with a pair of white denim (another spring and summer staple!) this look can easily work for a night out with friends, a dinner date or even a day of wine tasting.
I was also lucky enough to get my hands on a pair of Everlane’s new Day Heels and guys… the hype is real. San Francisco’s hilly streets don’t tend to lend themselves well for wearing heels beyond cab to curb situation but these are so comfortable. Like I can walk 30 minutes to work in them, wear them around the office all day and then walk home again, no problem. The silhouette has a modern, retro feel and the pop of red has been pairing perfectly with all of the neutrals that have been taking over my closet lately.
Have you hopped back on the one shoulder top trend again?
