I’m going to make a bold statement here and say that THIS is the ultimate summertime dress. Nothing screams summer quite as much as a little white dress and I recently snagged this frock from Madewell and I may have let out an audible squeal when I opened up the package. It was love at first sight.

I’ve been feeling a bit blue lately about San Francisco’s lack of summer – it was really tough to go from 90 degrees and sunny in Chicago to a week straight of foggy, cold and grey. I had been feeling some summertime FOMO and while I usually can’t justify doing too much summer shopping considering the weather here, I knew I had to have this dress as soon as I spotted it during a recent Madewell sale. The embroidery is so beautiful and vibrant and the silhouette is just flowy enough to be comfortable without being completely shapeless.

Luckily we finally got a break from Karl the Fog and I had my first chance to wear my new favorite dress – paired with a brown sandal and a cross-body bag the dress worked well for brunch with the girls and a walk around the Marina to window shop and soak up some sunshine. I’m already dreaming of packing this dress for a beach vacay or trip up to Napa for a wine tasting. Sometimes the right outfit just justifies a special trip, right?
