There are few things to me that scream fall is here than the return of plaid. There’s just something so cozy about the pattern, whether you’re busting out your favorite blanket scarf or throwing a wool plaid blanket on the couch – it’s festive without being in your face and can really help you celebrate the season in both your wardrobe and your home décor.

With this being our first fall in San Francisco, I’ve been making an effort to really make our apartment feel like home to celebrate the season to help make up for the lack of bright foliage or weekend apple picking adventures with our friends and family back in Chicago and New Jersey. Adding a new throw blanket to the couch in a neutral tan plaid from Adam Lippes new collection for Target has made snuggling up on the couch more comfortable than ever (and I think Callie would agree!).

For me, Saturday morning is my very favorite part of the week, hands down. It’s when I start the weekend off right with a workout followed by spending some much deserved down-time at home – it’s that perfect moment in the week when you’re totally free of the burdens of the office and it’s the time when I feel the most relaxed. Lately we’ve been opting for a quiet breakfast at home rather than going out for brunch or grabbing breakfast on-the-go – it feels like such a rare treat and when a pumpkin scented candle and some plaid servingware is involved, it feels like fall despite much warmer temperatures than we’re used to. On one of my recent Target runs (read: went in for milk, came out with 10 other things…) I went a little mad for plaid and couldn’t resist Adam Lippes’ buffalo plaid serving trays, a plaid coffee carafe and even a plaid monogram mug. Most festive fall breakfast ever? Yes, please.

To go along with all of the plaid I’ve been adding to our apartment I’ve begun reintroducing the pattern to my wardrobe and wanted to get a little crazy with some plaid on plaid pattern mixing. Pairing plaids can be a lot of fun because there are so many variants of the pattern that you can play with, whether it’s different colors, textures or pattern sizes. I’ve been living in this cozy plaid blanket scarf since grabbing it at Target and love how it dresses up an otherwise super simple outfit of jeans and a t-shirt and pairing it with plaid flats is a perfect finish.

Plaid has become one of my favorite ways to add an instant dose of fall to my day whether it’s in our apartment or my outfit of the day. Are you also mad for plaid? Anyone else feel the overwhelming urge to dress only in plaid and eat only pumpkin-flavored things once October rolls around?! When it comes to Target plaid, do you play by the rules or break ‘em? #TargetStyle
