RUN10 FEED10.
Did you know that right now, 49 million Americans are going hungry? Think about that for a second… 49 MILLION people that don’t know when they will get their next meal. Hunger is the world’s most solvable problem and to help get meals to people in need, Women’s Health Magazine has been hosting their RUN10 FEED10 races across the country. It’s pretty simple: you run a 10K and in return, 10 meals are donated to people within your surrounding neighborhoods. Last year, the races raised more than 1.5 million meals (!!!) and this year, they’re hoping to do make an even bigger impact.
I ran the RUN10 FEED10 race last year right before the Chicago Marathon and it was one of my absolute most favorite races I’ve ever done. It’s amazingly well organized (but I mean, it is Women’s Health Magazine after all) with some fantastic sponsors and swag, but most importantly, it makes a real impact. 10K is also just a great racing distance – not too short, not too long. It’s perfect!
The RUN10 FEED10 race is coming to Chicago this weekend and there are still spots available – it’s a great excuse to earn that Sunday brunch afterward! The race will start at 8 AM at Diversey Harbor and is only $50 with promo code R10F10PR.
If you’re a runner (Chicago Marathoners… how about a shakeout run for a great cause?!) or even if you’re not, I’d love to see you at Sunday’s RUN10 FEED10 race to support this great cause. Run, jog, walk… it’s all good! There’s no pressure and your 10K donates 10 meals regardless of finish time, so don’t worry about it if you’re not in shape to be running 6 miles. There are also some pretty sweet sponsors and the post-race wellness festival will include yoga, beauty consultations and awesome giveaways.
