weekend joy ride.

Most of the time, I’m as happy as can be about no longer owning a car. It’s more affordable, there’s no stress of parking it on the city streets, public transit in Chicago is easy to navigate and readily available. But then there are times when I seriously envy my car-owning friends – this is where Enterprise CarShare comes in and saves the day, time after time.

In case you’re not familiar with it, Enterprise CarShare is a service where you can sign up online and rent a car from a location within your neighborhood. You can book them for as little as 30 minutes or for the entire day and the entire process is done online (aka no paperwork or having to pick up the phone) – you just stroll up to the car, swipe your passcard over a little scanner on the windshield and voila! The door unlocks, you grab the key from the glove compartment and you’re on your way.

Enterprise-1

Over the weekend I grabbed my neighborhood favorite Enterprise CarShare car, a cute little Prius, as part of my quest to find the perfect mix of catching up on things and getting shit done & relaxing and unwinding. I had secured a few hours of joy riding on a beautiful, warm sunny day and I was determined to make the most of it. Obviously with the windows down and one of my favorite playlists on.

First stop? Randolph Street Market to do a bit of vintage hunting (you never know what you’ll find & what you’ll have to haul home!)

// oh how I wish I had any need for this mirror!!

The second stop was not as exciting but oh so desperately needed: a Trader Joe’s Run (aka the first time I’ve actually gone grocery shopping in several months)

Enterprise-6

If you’re a city dweller like me, Enterprise CarShare is a total lifesaver (plus it gives you your fill of windows-down driving) – signing up was one of the very first things I did after selling my car last year and it’s come in handy many, many times.

Did you do any joy riding over the weekend? When have you found a car to come in handy the most?
