a weekend in DC.
// The Capital Building // Views from the Sky // Minty Perfection
// A wall of Patron bottles // OLIVER! // After a night at the whiskey bar
// The White House // Booze Brunch // Wandering through the National Gallery of Art
// Perfect row houses all over the city // My first Shake Shack visit // The Jefferson Memorial
// 12 years of friendship & the Tidal Basin // Crab Cake Slides // The Air & Space Museum
// The Cherry Blossoms // September 11th Exhibit at the Newseum // The view from the roof of the Newseum
// Staircase at Hotel Monaco // Shopping at Eastern Market // The prettiest bathroom tile I ever did see
Weekend getaways are severely underrated – it was so wonderful to escape from how crazy things have been and spend some time in the sunshine exploring a new city. A 3 AM alarm clock was absolutely worth it to be able to savor three full days away, especially when those days involved bare legs weather and my first ever trip to Shake Shack (oh my goodness, why doesn’t Chicago have one yet?!). I stayed with one of my oldest friends, her fiancee and their adorable two pups and had so much fun seeing her new city and even the venue where they will be married next year.
DC, you sure did win me over. Thank you for being a much needed weekend escape.
