I’ve been making an effort lately to mix things up in my wardrobe, whether it be creating new outfit combinations from existing pieces or shaking up the everyday denim routine. Living in California has made by day to day uniform a lot more casual than it’s ever been and while I love nothing more than wearing jeans and a t-shirt, change is always good.

Dresses often get overlooked in my closet because of unpredictable foggy temperatures (and let’s be real… shaving my legs) but I’ve realized that maxi dresses are where it’s at. Their length adds some extra coverage for warmth and when paired with a denim jacket, they can easily go from the office to brunch with friends. Old Navy has been killing it in the dress department lately – it seems like almost every new piece I’ve bought lately is from there! I took a break from my usual gravitation toward black dresses or striped pieces with this red printed Old Navy maxi and it’s just one of those pieces that does all the work for you.
