recipe // bowties with tomatoes, sausage & cream.
This is probably one of my most favorite pasta dishes, EVER. It’s very easy to make but it’s delicious & perfect for serving to a crowd. You can use either sweet or spicy sausage – it’s great either way.
Ingredients:
- 1 package of bowtie pasta
- olive oil
- 1 pound Italian sausage
- 1/2 tsp. red pepper flakes
- 1/2 c. diced onion
- 2 tbsp. minced garlic
- 28 oz. Italian style plum tomatoes – drained & chopped
- 1.5 c. heavy cream
- flour
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- fresh parsley
Directions:
- Boil water & cook pasta using directions on the package
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat & brown sausage
- Cut browned sausage into medallions and return to skillet – add onion, garlic & red pepper and cook until onion is tender
- In a medium pot, transfer sausage mixture from skillet & add tomatoes, cream and salt. Simmer for about 10 minutes or until sauce thickens (this is where you will need to add some flour – I always do)
- Toss sauce & pasta together and top with fresh parsley
