I read a Wall Street Journal article last week that boldly stated that the flat is “making a play for power” against the power heel which has been the long-time go to shoe for female executives, and I must say, I agree.

Lately my heels have been traded in for some stylish flats, a pretty drastic break in my typical routine of wearing heels to work every day.  While there is still not a chance you’ll catch me wearing a dress with flats (there’s no competition when it comes to the effect heels have on your legs), I’d rock any of these stylish flats over a pair of black pumps any day:
