Meet my new favorite thing, the staycation. Spending the night in a hotel in my own city is something I had never done before but it was truly the perfect midweek escape. I was lucky enough to spend a night recently at one of the city’s newest hotels, the Thompson Chicago – right off of Oak Street it’s in the heart of the city with restaurants  bars, shopping all right around the corner. And the decor? Incredible; a blend of masculine and eclectic details with classic design (think clean white subway tile, brick, velvet and carefully curated artwork). 

Have you ever spent a night in a hotel in your own city? I think I’m hooked and am definitely looking forward to booking myself another little staycation soon, especially after the craziness of the holiday season. If you’re visiting Chicago, or just looking to treat yourself, I can’t recommend the Thompson enough – trust me, you won’t want to leave.
